2020 Master Plan Update
The Mount Shasta Recreation & Parks District is in the processes of a major update to it's Master Plan. Last updated in 2003, the plan had originally focused on the Mount Shasta City Park and Shastice Park. The current update will include those parks, but will also look at other existing and potential recreational facilities and programs elsewhere within the District boundaries.
Those boundaries extend east-west from the Trinity Divide to near the summit of Mount Shasta, and north-south from Black Butte to Dunsmuir, encompassing 142 square miles (91,000 acres). The City of Mount Shasta, encompassing 4 square miles (2,400 acres) sits squarely in the middle of the District.
Preparation of the master plan update will involve extensive community outreach, consisting of numerous meetings, surveys, written input, and frequent updates published here on this webpage. We hope that you join us in creating a vision for the future of the Recreation & Parks District.
